Tara Shabazz is the Executive Director of the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence where he is privileged to work in diverse capacities with its staff, board, members and extended community to realize its ambitious goals. Tara has worked with CPEDV since its inception and worked with the California Alliance Against Domestic Violence in a variety of capacities, five years prior to the formation of CPEDV. She brings to CPEDV over 11 years experience in the nonprofit sector functioning in management, training, education, advocacy, and fund development. In addition to her skills and education, Ms. Shabazz is a recognized professional in the domestic violence field.  She has overseen the development of CPEDV’s programs and services, has served on the numerous committees and task forces, has written training materials, articles and contributed to other publications, has been a speaker and presenter at several statewide and national conferences.

Complimenting this resume, it should also be noted that Tara has worked in a range of other professions.  Collectively, Tara has worked in the content areas of youth violence prevention and teen pregnancy prevention, the focus of her career has been on advocacy, community organizing, agency capacity building, educational program planning and development and multicultural issues. She has made numerous professional presentations in the area of cultural competency in the context of violence against women, domestic violence in the African American community and outreach to underserved communities.

Tara possesses a Master’s degree in Education, with an emphasis on Multi-Cultural Education, from California State University, Sacramento and focused her undergrad studies on Interdisciplinary Studies while on a full-ride athletic scholarship to play Division I Softball.
