Antonia Vann

Mary Walton, MSW, MDiv

Internationally recognized as one of the earliest pioneers in the domestic violence movement, Mary Walton, MSW, M.Div., is a former Interval House Executive Director and Founder of the African American Interfaith program, Creating A Safe Environment, a model demonstration project working to end domestic violence in African American faith communities.  She has a Masters in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Divinity from the Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, CA.  Concurrently, while working at Interval House, Rev. Walton is pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry with a specialization in “Sexual & Domestic Violence: The Role of Churches & Religious Institutions.”

Rev. Walton has spent the last 40 years serving as a leading advisor to hundreds of family violence programs and coalition efforts – many of which were started or designed as a result of her dynamic guidance and dedication to advancing services for victims.
