Rev. Walton will serve as a panelist during the session entitled "Re-examining our Efforts to Address Domestic Violence in the African American Community," which is scheduled for the afternoon of Monday, March 19, 2007 . She will also co-facilitate the workshop entitled Faith-Based Approaches to Addressing Domestic Violence, which is scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday, March 20, 2007 . The Rev. Mary L. Walton, MSW, M.Div. has been a domestic violence advocate since 1976 and was founding Executive Director of Interval House in 1980. Rev. Walton now serves Interval House Crises Shelters as Senior Management & Program Consultant and as Project Director of the faith-based Creating A Safe Environment (C.A.S.E.) Partnership.. Rev. Walton, a Claremont School of Theology graduate, is Senior Pastor of Dominguez United Methodist Church in the Carson/Long Beach community. In 2005, Rev. Walton was one of forty domestic violence and sexual assault advocates from throughout the USA , working with the faith community gathered together in Minneapolis to share strategies, successes, challenges and vision for the future. A Gathering of Allies, was convened by FaithTrust Institute, a pioneer organization in working to educate faith leaders and congregations about these issues.
