Rev. Miles will serve as a panelist for the session entitled" Re-Examining our Efforts to Address Domestic Violence in the African American Community - A Fishbowl Discussion," scheduled for the afternoon of Monday, March 19, 2007. He will also co- facilitate the workshop on Faith-Based Approaches to Addressing Domestic Violence, scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday, March 20, 2007 . Reverend Al Miles has taken his ministry out of the pulpit and into the community. This ordained minister currently serves as the coordinator of the Hospital Ministry Department at the Pacific Health Ministry at the Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu , Hawaii . He is an outspoken advocate on ending domestic abuse, and has written extensively on the subject. Some of his publications include: Ending Violence in Teen Dating Relationships: A Resource for Parents and Pastors ( Augsburg Books, 2005); Violence in Families: What Every Christian Needs to Know ( Augsburg Books, 2002) and Domestic Violence: What Every Pastor Needs to Know (Fortress Press, 2000). Rev. Miles received his Master of Divinity from the Anderson School of Theology. He received the prestigious Theology Distinguished Alumni Award from his alma mater in 2004. In addition, he is a Board Certified Chaplain, and he serves on a number of boards, including the Liz Claiborne Inc. Advisory Board on Teen Dating Violence and Abuse.
