Shelia Hankins

Ms. Hankins is the Project Director, Department of Human Services Michigan, Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Board State of Michigan Lansing, MI. In this capacity she provides leadership for the development and implementation of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and batterer's intervention programs. She also provides training and consulting services nationally. Before assuming her current position, Ms. Hankins was a Project Director for Laurel Consulting Group in Maryland, and she has also served as the Administrator of the Violence Against Women Grants Office for the Florida Governor's Task Force on Domestic and Sexual Violence. Additionally, Ms. Hankins has held the positions of Executive Director of Detroit's Women's Justice Center and the Northwest and Downtown Branches of the YWCA of Metropolitan Detroit.

For over two decades Ms. Hankins has focused her professional career and her community service activities on issues related to redressing the economic, political, and social status of traditionally disenfranchised and marginalized communities. She is an advocate for systemic changes in our society that will create safe and empowering environments for clients/customers, staff, families, and communities.

She has a B.S. in Education from Wayne State University and is currently a MBA candidate at NOVA Southeastern University.
