National Institute
of Corrections (NIC)
NIC provides training, on-site technical assistance, information,
and policy/ program development support to corrections agencies and
professionals. The NIC web site provides online access to materials,
hosts networks for corrections practitioners, and offers links to
corrections-related web sites. NIC's transition from Prison to the
Community Initiative (TPCI) is intended to help states improve their
transition processes, thereby increasing public safety, reducing
recidivism and new victimization, and making better use of resources
in correctional facilities and communities. See transition From Prison
Office for Victims of Crime
is Housed within the U.S. Department of Justice, the Office for
Victims of Crime (OVC) provides federal funds to support victim
assistance and compensation programs around the country and
advocates for the fair treatment of crime victims through policy
development. The mission of OVC is to enhance the Nation's capacity
to assist crime victims and to provide leadership in changing
attitudes, policies, and practices to promote justice and healing
for all victims of crime. This site also includes information on training
and technical assistance. |
